The Name: mu :: ki
Pronounced moo keee. Created from the Chinese and Japanese characters
meaning wood, respectively. First and foremost, I am a woodworker.
Love the smell of it, hate splinters, and every piece is unique due to
its nature. However, I am also an artist, a cook, a bartender, and an
appreciator of all things "cool".
What we do why it matters
I work closely in a cooperative setting with Munson Joinery
and Jules Studio in West Oakland. My design influences come from
Japanese Minimalism to Geometric organic shapes. My biggest role model is Sam Maloof (RIP). From his lines and feel, his furniture will always be something for me to aspire towards. With the great minds and skill in our cooperative, we aim to churn out unique and sometimes crazy objects. Whether it be a 16 foot army tank to a cutting board, we pride ourselves on our quality and sheer joy of our customers.
